Why Should You Buy the One Plus 7 Pro?

The strongest reason to consider the One Plus 7 Pro is its unusual balance of flagship hardware and clean front design. Unlike many modern phones with a notch or punch-hole camera, this model uses a motorized pop-up selfie module, leaving the 6.67-inch display uninterrupted. That makes it appealing for readers who watch video, read long pages, play games, or simply prefer a cleaner screen.

It is also a better fit for buyers who understand the trade-offs of an older flagship. The phone is discontinued, so availability depends on used, refurbished, or remaining old stock channels. The original source price was listed at about 590 EUR, but current market pricing can vary widely by condition, battery health, storage configuration, and region.

Design and Build Quality

The One Plus 7 Pro feels like a full flagship device rather than a lightweight mid-range phone. It uses Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back with an aluminum frame, giving it a dense and premium hand feel. At 206 g and 8.8 mm thick, it is not a compact phone, and users moving from smaller devices should expect a noticeable weight difference.

The dual Nano-SIM setup is useful for travel, work, or separating personal and business numbers. However, the lack of a microSD card slot means the storage option chosen at purchase matters. The Mirror Grey, Almond, and Nebula Blue finishes give the phone a more mature look than many gaming-focused performance phones from the same era.

Display Experience

The display is the centerpiece of the One Plus 7 Pro. Its Fluid AMOLED panel supports a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+, which helped set the tone for later premium Android displays. The QHD+ resolution produces a very sharp image at around 516 ppi, making text, icons, and high-resolution media look crisp.

Measured brightness of 616 nits is respectable, although newer flagships can go significantly brighter outdoors. The more important everyday advantage is the combination of OLED contrast, high resolution, and the uninterrupted front. For media consumption, it still feels more immersive than many newer phones with camera cutouts.

Performance and Storage

The Snapdragon 855 remains a capable chipset for daily use, with an octa-core Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. It is not a current flagship platform, but it still handles browsing, messaging, video playback, social apps, and many games smoothly when the phone is in good condition.

The use of UFS 3.0 storage is a major advantage over older or cheaper phones with slower storage. App launches, file transfers, and general responsiveness benefit from the faster internal memory. Configurations include 128GB with 6GB RAM, 256GB with 8GB RAM, and 256GB with 12GB RAM. Since there is no card slot, the 256GB versions are easier to recommend for long-term use.

Camera Flexibility

The rear camera system is built around a 48 MP wide camera with optical image stabilization, an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 16 MP ultrawide camera. That gives the One Plus 7 Pro a practical triple-camera setup covering everyday shooting, closer subjects, and wide scenes.

Video capture goes up to 4K at 60fps, with gyro-EIS available, while slow-motion modes include 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps. One limitation worth noting is that video recording is not supported with the ultrawide camera, so users who often film wide scenes may find newer camera systems more flexible.

The motorized 16 MP selfie camera is part of the phone’s character. It supports HDR and 1080p video with gyro-EIS, but the moving mechanism is also something buyers should inspect carefully on used units. A smooth pop-up action and clean camera module are important signs when evaluating the device in person.

Battery and Charging

The 4000 mAh battery was solid for a 2019 flagship, and the listed endurance rating of 85 hours suggests dependable mixed use when the battery is fresh. In today’s used market, real battery life depends heavily on battery age and charging history, so condition matters more than the original capacity figure.

The 30W wired charging support remains practical. It is not as fast as the highest-wattage systems on recent Android phones, but it is quick enough for daily top-ups. There is no mention of wireless charging in the provided specifications, so buyers who rely on Qi charging should consider another model.

Software and Long-Term Support

The phone launched with Android 9.0 Pie and is listed as upgradable to Android 12 with OxygenOS 12.1. That upgrade path is important: the One Plus 7 Pro can run a much newer system than its launch software, but it should not be treated like a phone with current multi-year update support.

For buyers, the software question is simple. If the phone will be used mainly for media, calls, messaging, and light productivity, Android 12 can still be workable. If the priority is long security support, banking-app longevity, or the latest Android features, a newer OnePlus, Pixel, Samsung, or Xiaomi model will be a safer choice.

Connectivity and Audio

The One Plus 7 Pro supports GSM, CDMA, HSPA, and LTE, with broad 4G band coverage listed for Global and North America variants. It does not include 5G, which is the biggest network limitation compared with newer premium phones. For users in areas with strong LTE coverage, that may be acceptable; for buyers planning to keep a phone for several more years, 5G may matter more.

Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD, NFC, dual-frequency GPS support, and USB Type-C 3.1 with OTG make the connectivity package strong for its generation. Stereo speakers are included, and the loudspeaker test result is rated very good. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so wired audio users will need USB-C headphones or an adapter.

Who Should Buy It?

The One Plus 7 Pro is best for buyers who want a premium older Android flagship with a high-resolution OLED display, fast internal storage, stereo speakers, and a distinctive all-screen design. It is especially interesting for people who value display immersion more than having the newest chipset or 5G modem.

It is less suitable for users who need official long-term updates, the brightest outdoor display, 5G connectivity, wireless charging, or the most advanced camera processing. Used buyers should prioritize battery health, display condition, pop-up camera function, and whether the exact model supports the LTE bands needed in their region.

Conclusion

The One Plus 7 Pro is still a memorable flagship because of its sharp 90Hz AMOLED display, UFS 3.0 storage, Snapdragon 855 performance, stereo speakers, and uninterrupted front design. Its age brings clear limits, especially no 5G and older software support, but a clean 256GB unit can still be a smart buy for display-first users who understand the used-market trade-offs.
